Entry Level

Some of our search assignments are considered “entry level” to get into the specialty of medical sales, which require some of the following qualifications:
  1. At least 1 year of outside sales experience, preferably with a recognized “Fortune 500 company” known for its sales training program
  2. Documented track record of sales success (i.e. rankings, performance awards, recognition)
  3. No more than 2 previous jobs post college graduation

Most entry level medical sales opportunities require prior outside sales experience, with documented top sales performance (i.e. rankings, awards, recognitions, sales growth numbers, percentage to quota). The most preferred outside sales experience is from Business-to-Business sales with Fortune 500 companies that have an extensive training program. Examples: ADP, Aramark, Canon, Cintas, FedEx, Konica Minolta, Paychex, Pitney Bowes, Ricoh Systems, Unifirst, WB Mason, Xerox, UPS.
Recruiters act as the first screening on behalf of their clients, so your resume usually goes directly to the hiring manager along with a detailed explanation as to why you are a good fit for the position. This guarantees your resume is seen. Our recruiters also help you navigate and prepare for the interview process.
Recruiters are hired by the employer to find candidates with specific experience for their open positions. If a candidate applies to that does not have the required experience, unfortunately the recruiter will not call and discuss the position with them. We save every resume we receive and do call when future opportunities open that are a better match for their qualifications.

DO:

  • Use a “chronological” resume format, with most recent position at the top
  • Use bullet points and include quantifiable accomplishments that are unique to you
  • List accomplishments directly under the position where they occurred
  • Include Month and Year in all dates of employment
  • List education at the bottom of your resume, include graduation year and GPA if over 3.0
  • For sales, always list what you were selling and who you were selling to
  • Go into 2 pages if your experience warrants it (usually 4+ roles and lots of accomplishments)
  • Have someone proof read your document

Don’t:

  • Don’t use a “Functional” resume format
  • Don’t write long paragraph descriptions of jobs or responsibilities
  • Don’t remove experience. Simply provide less information about to prevent gaps
  • Don’t include information that is not factual
  • Don’t use fancy font/type faces
  • Never use the first person: I, Mine, Me, My
